A fairytale start to the new AIG era
The 2019 Women’s British Open was headlined by AIG, a leading global insurance organisation, for the first time.
AIG’s initial five-year commitment marks an exciting new era for the most international major in the women’s game, having taken over the title sponsorship from Ricoh, who after 12 successful years have moved into an official supplier role for the Championship.
Woburn Golf Club’s stunning Marquess’ course was the scene of the 43rd edition in August 2019, marking the Bedfordshire club’s 11th time as Championship host.
Japan's Hinako Shibuno won not just the coveted trophy but the hearts of the fans as she brought her relaxed, fun brand of golf to the fairways. It was the 20-year-old's first time playing competitively outside Japan and her first experience of a Major Championship, yet she held off the stellar field to complete a remarkable victory.
The next edition heads to Royal Troon in Scotland from 20-23 August, 2020. Make sure you sign up below to make sure you are first to hear about offers, promotions and announcements.
